"Sounds like" ECUSA

When, in previous writings, I wrote about ABCUSA becoming the Episcopal Church in Baptist drag I may have spoken truer than even I thought.

The Episcopal Church uses the term “bridge church” to identify its mission to the society. Does it sound like the “bridge people” appellation trickling down from Valley Forge. Consider this quotation: “We are not of one mind on the subject of human sexuality.” And the idea that among believers there are “honest and legitimate differences on this subject.” Same playbook? Lastly, does this portion of a statement from one division of the Anglican Communion sound like something being said by some ABC people? “Others, reading the Scriptures with integrity, conclude, in the light of developing understanding of humanity and sexuality, that the time has arrived for the Church to affirm committed homosexual relationships.” Have you heard anything resembling these things in your contacts with ABC?

In response: a “bridge people” should build bridges from the sin that doth so easily beset and destroy to the high, safe, ground of God.

That there are different feelings regarding homosexual activity among people does not negate the Bible’s clear teaching.

There are no “legitimate” theological differences to be discussed by the church on this subject because the scriptures throughout express only one clear and consistent view.

If those espousing acceptance of homosexuality are reading the scriptures with integrity and still advocating a change in the church’s viewpoint on that behavior it means that they are advocating the rejection and overthrow of the meaning of the words of God’s revelation. If integrity is their claim they should be forthright in declaring what their position means.

For those approving, endorsing, and embracing the homosexual life style against Bible guidelines there is already a church where you would feel at home, the ECUSA. I would guess they will welcome you, and will accept you without any expectations for your church doctrine. You will be able to believe or disbelieve anything you choose without control from the Holy Bible. We Baptists will continue to be your friends, and love you in Christ, and fellowship with you where appropriate, but please don’t shipwreck ABCUSA by destroying any biblical foundation we still have.
